While it’s true there isn’t a lot to look forward to in the initial release of Android 15, the first quarterly platform release looks to finally bring the long-awaited lock screen widgets feature.

All other buttons are placed in a rounded rectangle, with Gemini Live being the next most important shortcut. Expanding the widget adds speech-to-text and a button to launch the Gemini camera.

This update is rolling out now in Google app version 16.17 (beta). If you don’t see it yet, try holding down the widget on your home screen. Then tap the pencil icon to customize it.
