Ford has expanded a Canadian recall to include more SUVs over a defect that could cause the vehicles to catch fire.

Model-year-2021 through -2023 Ford Bronco Sport; and model-year-2022 and -2023 Maverick pickups are covered by the safety campaign Stateside.

According to NHTSA, the recall affects 15,355 Bronco Sports SUVs from model years 2021–2023, as well as 18,221 2020–2022 model year Escape SUVs with the base 1.5-liter engine.
