Virginia police officer killed in shooting was a New Jersey native
Officer Christopher Reese, 30, had worked for the Virginia Beach Police Department for about three years. Reese and Officer, Cameron Girvin, 25, were killed Friday night during a confrontation after a traffic stop, authorities said.

Reese, 30, was taken to Sentara Princess Anne Hospital, where he died a short time later surrounded by family, friends, and fellow officers, Neudigate said. Reese became a Virginia Beach officer in 2022, after having served three years as a deputy sheriff for the city.
Virginia Beach Police Officer Christopher Reese was killed in the line of duty Friday. Sheriff Rocky Holcomb, who worked with Reese before he joined VBPD, is "heartbroken" by the loss.
