Thai authorities arrested an elephant handler in the case of a 22-year-old Spanish tourist who died after being injured by an elephant at a sanctuary in the south of the country.

Police in Thailand have charged a mahout with negligence after an elephant under his care gored a Spanish tourist at a sanctuary last week. Theerayut Inthaphudkij, 38, is the caretaker of the female elephant, called Pgang Somboon, responsible for the fatal injury to the tourist, Phang Nga Tourism and Sports Office said.
