Both Lillard and Foley's characters seemed to die in 'Scream' and 'Scream 3' — so how are they back for 'Scream 7'?

Matthew Lillard, who played Stuart ‘Stu’ Macher in the first 1996 Scream movie, is returning to the franchise for Spyglass/Paramount’s Scream 7.
