Washington, D.C.'s NFL franchise is set to return to the nation's capital as part of an agreement between the organization and the District of Columbia government to build a new stadium.

Mayor Muriel Bowser says the District of Columbia and the Commanders reached an agreement to construct a new home for the football team in the city.

The Commanders will put up $2.7 billion for the development, anchored by a roofed, 65,000-seat stadium, while cost for D.C. taxpayers is expected to top $1 billion.
