The Texas Rangers have hired former Miami Marlins manager Skip Schumaker as a senior advisor to president of baseball operations Chris Young, reports the Dallas Morning News. Luis Urueta, Schumaker's bench coach with the Marlins, is also expected to join the Rangers as their bench coach. The team has not yet announced either hire.

The Texas Rangers have promoted Ross Fenstermaker to the role of general manager, the team announced Monday. Fenstermaker becomes the 10th GM in Rangers franchise history. Fenstermaker, 38, had for the last three years served as the Rangers' assistant general manager in charge of player development and internal operations.
