A second person has died in Maharashtra due to suspected Guillain-Barré Syndrome, raising the total number of fatalities to 16. Health officials have reported over 100 cases in Pune, with a team of expert doctors from the central government assisting in managing the situation.

Doctors who performed the 40-year-old patient's autopsy said the initial cause of death is suspected to be Guillain-Barre Syndrome. The final cause of death will be known after further analysis of the viscera.

"The patient, suffering from symptoms like breathlessness, weakness in lower limbs, and diarrhoea, was admitted to a private hospital (in Solapur) on January 18 as he was on ventilator support on and off.
