Verizon customers reported their mobile phone service wasn't working in cities across the U.S., giving them only SOS mode.

The number of cases peaked at more than 100,000 Monday morning, according to the website Downdetector. Users complained of being unable to make calls or send texts.

Verizon said it was restoring service after experiencing a technical issue that led to hundreds of thousands of reports of outages on Monday.
