Oracle Corp. plans to invest more than $6.5 billion to establish a public cloud region in Malaysia, aiming to meet the country’s growing demand for artificial intelligence and cloud services.

Oracle is set to invest more than $6.5 billion in developing artificial intelligence (AI) and cloud computing infrastructure in Malaysia. The company revealed this week that it plans to open a cloud region in the country from which it will be offering more than 150 infrastructure and cloud services, including Oracle's AI offerings.

Oracle will pump $6.5B into establishing a public cloud region in Malaysia, its 12th such set-up across the Asia-Pacific region.

Oracle's investment is one of the largest such pledges in Malaysia, superseding Amazon's $6.2 billion project announced in August.
