A state of emergency has been declared in Louisville after a tornado ripped through Jeffersontown and severe flooding is expected over the coming days.
MIDDLETOWN, Ky. — There were no reported injuries after a tornado barreled through and caused moderate to significant damage to 124 units in the Stables at English Station apartment complex Thursday. Tenants said roofing crews arrived hours later and began repairs, which they were happy with.
On Thursday night, a tornado hit Gordon-Darby, a government services contractor based in Jeffersontown for the last 40 years. The wind ripped off the roof, and the second-floor bricks crumbled, exposing much of the building to the elements.
Louisville officials are urging the public to prepare ahead of what they said could be a top 10 flooding event in the city's history.

Boyle, Casey, Green, Hart, Lincoln, Marion, Mercer, Taylor, Washington, Adair, Barren, Edmonson, Metcalfe and Russell counties are under a flood warning Friday until 10:30 p.m. EST.
