A judge denied a lawsuit filed by Colorado Libertarian Party from moving forward against Colorado Secretary of State Jena Griswold. The party had sought to force a hand count of ballots after voting system passwords were posted on the state's website and left up for several months.

A one-day trial over whether election machines in 34 Colorado counties should be shut down took place in Denver District Court on Monday, a day before the general election. At issue was a massive leak of hundreds of election equipment passwords,

State officials said they were confident no one tampered with the machines after discovering the password breach and that votes would be safe. But they still scrambled to fix the leak, identified Oct. 24.
