Houston’s seven-year streak of reaching the American League Championship Series is over after ex-manager A.J. Hinch guided the Tigers to an era-ending upset.

The last time the ALCS did not feature the Houston Astros, Coco Crisp and B.J. Upton took part in it. That's how long ago it was. We're only a few weeks from that changing, though, because the Astros' seven-year run of making the ALCS every single year has come to end.

The Astros, improbably, were the first team eliminated from the 2024 postseason. The Detroit Tigers swept them 2-0 in the wild-card round behind a dominant performance from Tarik Skubal in Game 1 and a scrappy comeback in a back-and-forth Game 2. Houston's remarkable string of seven consecutive ALCS appearances is over.
