The late ‘Top Gun’ star, known for his role as ‘Ice Man,’ died at the age of 65 following his throat cancer battle, but he reportedly died from a separate illness.

Kilmer died from pneumonia at age 65 on April 1, according to his daughter Mercedes.

Both of Kilmer’s kids are actors. Mercedes co-starred with her dad in the 2020 film “Paydirt.” Jack has starred in films like “The Stanford Prison Experiment,” “Woodshock,” “Palo Alto” and “Lord of Chaos.” He also narrated his dad’s 2021 documentary “Val.”

Nicolas Cage, who starred alongside Kilmer in 2009's "Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans," shared a statement with "Good Morning America" on Wednesday, paying tribute to his former co-star. "I always liked Val and am sad to hear of his passing. I thought he was a genius actor," Cage said.

Val Kilmer made his last public appearance with his daughter Mercedes at the annual Thespians Go Hollywood Gala in Los Angeles in 2019. The actor died at the age of 65 on April 1, 2025.
