Popular video game "Football Manager" announced on Friday that its delayed 2025 edition has been cancelled as the "overarching player experience and interface is not where we need it to be."

There's been quite a lot of gloomy speculation about a potential video game crash coming. After heavy layoffs over the past two years, the cancellation of big budget titles continues to add fuel to the idea that the numbers aren't adding up.

The developer of Football Manager 25 has officially cancelled the game after a series of delays that saw it pushed from November last year. Developer Sports Interactive said the decision to cancel the latest instalment of the game was made after “extensive internal discussion” and “careful consideration” with publisher Sega.

In a statement, it was mentioned that fans had been eagerly anticipating the first gameplay reveal, making this news even more disappointing, especially since the release date had already been postponed twice.
