Police shot and wounded a man who allegedly brandished a firearm Tuesday afternoon and pointed it at officers in a Far East Dallas neighborhood, Interim Chief Michael Igo said at a news briefing.

Dallas police officers shot and critically wounded a man who waved a gun at drivers and pointed the weapon at officers on Tuesday afternoon, the department said. The shooting occurred about 3:20 p.m. in the 11000 block of Joaquin Drive in northeast Dallas, after police arrived to investigate reports of the man waving his gun at motorists.
