Former Rep. Charles Rangel, the longtime N.Y. congressman, was laid to rest Friday with a funeral at St. Patrick's Cathedral in Manhattan.

The mass, held at the historic St. Patrick's Cathedral, came a day after Rangel's body lay in state at New York City Hall, an honor bestowed to only a handful of political figures.

The New York Representative was remembered for his fierce advocacy of New York, cool temperament and mental strength.
