A strong low-pressure system off the Pacific Coast will make landfall Tuesday, bringing with it high-speed gusts and perhaps some rain.

Up in the mountains, the howling winds plus incoming precipitation will combine to bring on white-out conditions due to heavy, blowing snow. As such, a rare Blizzard Warning has been issued above 2,000' in the Cascades on Tuesday and Wednesday. Pass travel will be difficult to dangerous at times over the next 48 hours.

A special weather statement is in effect for much of B.C.'s coast as high winds are expected to hit the region Tuesday evening. The wind event, known as a "bomb cyclone," is expected to last into Wednesday morning.
