Tornado touches down in Basile, destroying a local business
Several tornado warnings issued Tuesday morning for parts of Evangeline Parish. Damage is reported in Basile at Rhea's Specialty Meats. We are told no one was in the store when the storm caused the damage. We reached out to Evangeline Parish Clerk of Court who says voting is not affected by the storm.
Tornado hits Basile; three injuries reported, one critical
A tornado has hit parts of Basile. KLFY News has been told that Rhea’s Specialty Meat & Smokehouset was hit. Injuries have been reported. The National Weather Service said it was an EF1 tornado with winds at 95 mph.

Two people suffered minor injuries Tuesday morning after a tornado touched down near Basile, according to the National Weather Service. The injuries occurred about 8:30 a.m. at a meat market on US 190 near the west side of Basile, according to NWS meteorologist Johnathon Brazzell.
