Parts of the northern United States, including New York, could be in for a Northern Lights show tonight. Here's when you should look up into the sky.

A portion of the northern U.S. may have a chance to see the northern lights on Saturday night, the latest opportunity to view the phenomenon as activity on the sun’s surface reaches a “solar maximum,” according to a National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration forecast.

A geomagnetic storm caused by a corneal mass ejection from the sun may cause the northern lights to be visible in more than a dozen states Monday night.

If using a regular camera, Adobe suggests setting the focus to the farthest possible setting with a wide aperture, low shutter speed and high ISO value. Visit Iceland, Iceland’s tourism website, recommends turning on night mode and a lower shutter speed if using a smartphone.
