The sports world was stunned when longtime NBA expert and ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski announced his retirement from the news industry. In turn, he became the general manager at his alma mater, St. Bonaventure, in a surprising twist. Immediately, plenty of names emerged as potential replacements, including Jake Fischer and Shams Charania.

Passan, 44, has been with ESPN since 2019 and signed a four-year, $4 million contract extension in early 2022. He is considered among the best, if not the best, reporters covering Major League Baseball, which he has done since 2004 at The Kansas City Star, Yahoo and now ESPN.
