Hi the sky station is a building at the top of the mountain where you can view the northern lights. It has a small restaurant, toilets and a tall tower to climb(if you want to) to view the lights from. It is accessed by chairlift which takes between 20 and 35 minutes to get to the top. The staff there are very knowledgeable on the lights and will give you a whole host of information. Great place to be if the light come out as no light pollution.

We drove in from Kiruna just for the evening and were lucky enough to book a spot to the Sky Station. I don't believe you can actually stay at the sky station - it opens at 9pm and closes around 1am. You also do not have to stay at the Turiststation hotel to book. I would recommend booking in advance if you can (even by a day or two) just to make sure you don't miss out as it does book up quickly. Have so much fun!

Go on their website and check out their calendar. It should show you the holiday opening times. Or do what we did and book a northern lights tour. There are two companies that run tours to suit your needs. Again go online to check them out. That way we didn't miss anything. By the way we were there late December 2017 and there was about 4 hours of sunlight between 10:00am and 2:00pm sunrise to sunset. Have fun, we did
